Rebirth

What is your interpretation of human culture, experience, belief and our place in the universe?

What is right? What is wrong? Why does it matter? Why not? Who does it matter too? Who is a hero? Who are you? Who am I on this page, line or pixel? Ask Google. I don’t know the answers but by creating something through imagination one can blend colors, plant seeds of possibilities in dark matter. Persephone. The seed and the flower. The expression of the flower contained in the seed. A cycle of birth, death and rebirth.

In any culture rebirth is associated with death. One must first be born then die to then be reborn again. Rebirth in it of itself raises big questions about life, like death and if there is anything after life and death. The Black death then could be the metaphorical and physical death of many cultures and ancient knowledge.

The Renaissance was a metaphorical and physical rebirth of ideas, spirituality, science, world explorations, art and drama, to revolutionize Europe and the World. Pandemics and Natural disasters have plowed through cultures and have sown the seeds of possibilities throughout history, putting life under pressure to create diamonds.

Whatever your values or beliefs one can look at the epic stories as an expression of life itself. Light itself can pass through water to create any color under the rainbow. The way we express life is a window into ourselves. A way of life or beliefs about the nature of the world through the eyes of the creator or co-creators of our world and the retelling of ancient worlds through art, story and geometry.

Expressing personal myths and going on Adventures, creating, inventing and/or innovating. It makes me think of the creative process. It is a mind expanding exercise to think about the beginning of the universe so we can understand the present moment. The Iroquois keep the oral tradition alive to keep stories alive since Life is always changing and we are creating our reality.

The Omnipotent one, is Creation unfolding.

Camilo Caldero – 2020

I created this painting with many myths in mind. The sky, water, earth starlight and space are the 5 elements in the painting. Like Genesis the canvas is God’s metaphorical drawing board. The first thing I painted was the sky, water and earth. In no real order, it was a chaos of colors coming together with twilight to set the tone for the birth of a new day. The stars I painted keeping the Coyote in mind from indigiounous mythology of the trickster in the Navajo traditions. The Earth took shape as the mountain, ocean and trees were painted on the primordial canvas. The Tree represents the cycle of life and works to mediate life and death. The trees are dancing with joy. The texture of the paint on the canvas shows the beauty of the Sakura blissful but short lived life. How life is captured in the tree as we observe the seasons.  Life and Death can be seen in the leaves. The Tree also represents all 5 elements in balance.

Imagine a nation beyond borders. Where the Sky meets the face of the Waters. Void of matter. Darkness she eloquently dances and bathes upon the nadir of existence. Twilight. Meditating. Darkness bending light. Forging the Will of Fire. Starlight, Illuminating the face of the deep.

The Omnipotent one, is Creation unfolding.
